Whiney Wednesday …

.. brought to you as a less intellectual substitute for BTW and  Thoughtful Thursday … lol  there will be very little meaningful content in this post, just so you’re forewarned. Feel free to run the other way now before you read further ;)

Warning aside… on with the ranting whine fest…

I really am not fond of this time of year. I love autumn… and winter has it’s moments… but this blah time of in between when the colors have all faded and the leaves have fallen, the weather can’t make up it’s mind what it wants to do… and the days get massively short… yeah… this time of year sucks >.<

I go to work at just after five in the morning so it’s DARK out. I work in the back of a building with no windows, so the only daylight I get to enjoy is the walk home. This time of year though, the sunlight is either miniscule or short lived. For instance… by four pm today… it felt like it was closer to seven. The sky was beginning to grow dark and the day just seemed so… late. And now… now it’s about six thirty and I feel like it’s closer to ten. The evening has barely begun but I feel like I should be crawling into bed… and the pitch black sky outside my window doesn’t help >.<

As much as I despise the snow, this time crunch doesn’t feel as bad once it’s fallen. Maybe because the white snow brightens things up. The street lights and moon light reflect off the snow making it brighter out, plus even in the day, the snow seems to brighten whatever sunlight shows through.  I just hate climbing through hip deep piles of the stuff, or walking on a slushy highway with cars wizzing past three inches away because the sidewalks are piled six feet high with snow >.<

Or … or maybe I’m just bitchy and whiney tonight because I’ve been fighting off some malicious bug the past week or so that is so totally pissing me off. Oh… did I warn you all I can out curse a sailor on  a bad day? I probably should have warned you all about that. I usually try to curb my language in public forums.. which is silly considering I don’t bother to watch it in public. I get horrified looks form who ever I’m with if there are preteens within earshot… What? Oh come on… with the tv shows, movies, games and everything else now a days, kids HALF their ages already know all the bad words. It’s their parents job to raise them to know that hearing the language and knowing it is one thing ( and impossible to avoid in this day and age).. and repeating them is quite another.

….great.. and now I’m rambling…>.< .. I’m whining and bitchy and RAMBLING… >.< *sigh* Yeah… this time of year sucks.. runny noses, mystery bugs, illnesses that refuse to go away or are immediately replaced with another… days that seem far too short and tiring… full of far too much to get accomplished  while feeling like you have no energy or drive to do anything but curl up in a warm fuzzy blanket and wait for spring…

…this WAS going to be a btw post… but… my bt is half cleaned off and half piled recklessly high with things that need to be sorted out and put away… or tossed out. But hey.. it’s HALF clean. I have enough room in front of me that I can SEE fake wood grain :D … well… at least I could until I tossed donw a bead mat and made little piles on it with glass beads trying to spark some creative drive….

… it failed to spark, by the way…>.<

.. all though they do look very pretty sparkling away in the light…

..I’d better cover them up before the cats spot them or I’ll be chasing beads all over the place for the next day or so >.<

And I discovered that I will never ever ever leave anything important destined for Australia until the last minute, because xpresspost is insane >.< I volunteered to make a replacement Secret Santa gift for  someone and made them a bunch of jewelry… then was told xpresspost was the only thing that would guarentee it’s arrival in time.. and that was $64. For a little packet about the size and weight of a dvd case.  I swear my jaw hit the floor… then I gave a slight snort and said…”uh huh… and what’s the next fastest…?” In the end I paid just under ten bucks and it SHOULD get there by christmas but it’s not guarenteed.

Okay… maybe I should focus on something good to end this rant off with? Yeah… good stuff…

…umm…

Oh! Jeannie of jkdjewelry  is hosting a 12 days of Christmas deal on her blog. If you comment each day for the 12 days you’ll be entered to win some of the goodies featured.  Some of the stuff is also for separate giveaways and  day 1 was such a day.  Cary Scholes was guest designer, sharing her tutorial for making a Christmas Spider ornament… and offering the oranment itself as a prize. And I won it :) A person who is more fond of snow  than she is of spiders… won a spider … lol At least it’s sparkly and and not crawly >.<

And I also won a pendant from Kim Hutchinson during the Virtual Craft Show :) So both good points :D

I updated my Jewelry Gallery here with a bunch of new stuff :) ( see the slide show on the sidebar or follow the link to the gallery).

Ohohohohohoh! And last night I was playing around and started setting up the new blog :D Much easier to customize and way prettier back grounds… plus I can make my own! so cool… I love sites that I can add in my own backgrounds and banners and everything… or course… then I get carried away making new backgrounds and banners and things and never have enough time to get stuff done….

Okay… there… ending on a bright note and feeling better for it :) sorry for the blah whiney rant…I’m sure many of you feel the same about various points of it all.

Hope none of you are feeling as blah and bahhumbug as I am currently. I’m thinking of heading out to start my Christmas shopping either tomorrow after noon or Friday, so maybe that will cheer me up :) Plus I might actually have an idea on what to get my sister-in-law this year… my father is still a mystery aside from the prerequisit long johns and home depot gift card … lol

So, those who stuck it out and read it through to the end..I’m sorry >.< but if you have been feeling blah too at least now you know you are not alone :) I’ll try to make sure my next blog post isn’t so… whiney and rambling ;)

Don’t forget to stop by and leave a comment on my newest Freebie Friday post for a chance to win :)

Freebie Friday #9

… yes, I know it’s Saturday… but this is my Friday post, so pffft!

I really did mean to post this yesterday but I’ve been feeling under the weather all week and by the time I got everything else done and had time to blog…I was beat and decided to go to bed early >.<

I am feeling a bit better today though, so the extra sleep must have helped :)

…but enough excuses…onto the blogging!

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed checking out all of the shops and Artisans that took place in Lori Anderson’s Virtual Craft Show :) I found so many fabulous shops that I probably never would’ve come across otherwise! While I haven’t bought anything from any of them yet, I do intend to! I kept telling myself to wait and see them all before spending all my money ;) Now that I’ve seen them all…I need to decide what all to buy!

I mentioned on Wednesday that I was doing a ‘non-jewelry’ project that was too big to share… well I have a picture that encompasses all of it.

                      pict0280

There’s the little blue felt wolf bag that I glued/sewed  and a crap load of hand drawn & colored artcards of as many of the characters as I could get done. ( The characters are all from the stories this woman writes – the S.O.D Series ” Secrets of Darkness”.  She’s another hopeful writer aiming to get published). Originally, all of the cards were going to be like the few black and white portrait sketches on the far left bottom.. however, so many of her characters had vague descriptions or no pictures drawn yet to reference that I realized it would be rather difficult. So instead I drew ‘toy’ versions of them :) I think they turned out rather cute.  They all fit into the little wolf bag… the blue wolf is another of her characters.

So, now you know the rest of what I was busy doing for the last while :)

But of course, that’s not why you’re reading this post, right? This is the Freebie Friday ( on Saturday) post so you want to see what’s up for grabs this time :)

Alrighty.

Little something different this time around.

pict0282

A wire-wrapping tool with a spool of wire included. The tool is intended for floral work, but who knows what all you can come up with while playing around and experimenting? And I’m sure there are plenty of you who play with flowers too ;) and for those who don’t, I’ve included two bags of bugle beads ;  both mixes – one primarily oranges and reds, and the other primarily greens.

Since it isn’t  really related to jewelry or jewelry making, which I believe the majority of my readers prefer, I’ll keep an eye on this. If no one shows any interest within the first week, I’ll remove it and put something else in it’s place :)  It’s up to all of you! I read all of your comments and do take your suggestions to heart :)

This giveaway will run until the last Wednesday of the month, the 28th of December. I’ll announce the winner in the BTW post as always :)

Oh, and I’ve decided with the lack of a ‘follow’ feature and  my rss feed not working properly for most people, to move this to my blogger account. So that means I’ll have to have an extra little prize to giveaway next month for ‘followers’ ;)

In the mean time, same rules as always -  One comment = one entry. Please leave SEPARATE comments for each time you share news of this giveaway. If you say in one comment that you shared it multiple places… that only counts as 1 entry… but leaving a separate comment for each time you shared, gives you an entry each time :)

One additional Rule this time – because of the weight of the tool, this giveaway is limited to Canada & U.S. residents only !

BTW & Giveaway Winner!

So, I guess it’s time I showed a bit more of what I’ve been up to this week, huh? How about we just keep it to jewelry? The non-jewelry related work would require far too many pictures since I made about 30 or 40 some odd hand drawn artcards and am making a little felt bag featuring a wolf head to hold them all. I really don’t want to look at another colored pencil again for a very long time lol

So… JEWELRY wise…I’ve made these :) All of these are destined to various people as gifts this holiday season and are traveling all over the place – from the U.S to the Ukraine! lol

p

Those orange ones in the top are made with some of the felt beads I received from Lori in the little bead swap we just did,(mentioned here ) with some of the fancy yarn that I received with my prize from Wildrosesandblackberries :)

j

lThe necklace above has a steampunk/ gothic feel to it. I found some black wire ‘lace’ ribbon and weaved some seed beads along the edges to match the pendant.

g
This necklace above is a carved wooden owl… I think.. or maybe a raven..? lol Either way, it’s black and it’s a bird… and it had three large holes in it’s base where a branch no doubt originally sat… so I made a new branch with the same brown cording I used for the neck and reinforced with some fine gold wire… then dangled a leaf off the middle twig :) That mark on the bottom is the base of my wire.

And onto the giveaway winner for the Christmas themed jewelry featured here .

Well, there would’ve been more entries registered since numerous people said they blogged/tweeted/facebooked.. etcetc.. HOWEVER, the rules state that

” one comment =one entry. Leave separate comments for each time you share word about this giveaway ( facebook, twitter, blog, etc.) “

…AND they posted all of that in ONE post… which one counts as ONE entry, despite the multiple sharing >.<  I WAS going to count each separately but in the end decided to just stick with what I’d posted in the rules.

That being said, the winner via Random.org is Danyela Costin! Congrats, Danyela :)

randomx

And… since I didn’t have one single referral post, I was left with the choice of whether or not to hold over the crystals for next month or just draw again…

… yeah..I drew again ;) lol   The winner of the extra giveaway , also via Random.org , is Shaiha :)

randomx2

Congrats to you both :)

I’ll have the new giveaway for December posted on Friday !

Swamped but still lazy ;)

Sorry for the long absence >.< I had photos taken to post for a BTW post… then just didn’t have time… or willpower, to actually post >.<

In my last post I mentioned my ‘snake jewelry’ for my giftee in the Secret Santa exchange I’m in… well, the ‘snake muse’ ran for the hills shortly after that post leaving me stuck again. The past week has been a tad crazy … well… crazier then normal, as I scramble to finish up a NEW gift idea so I can still get it in the mail by the deadline. Of course… being me… the last minute NEW idea I hit on and dived right into is a very … big… project >.< I think I’m about halfway done.. maybe a bit over… and I need to have it done, wrapped, packed and mailed as close to Dec. 1st as I can!

… of course, I also have OTHER things that must also be done and in the mail as quickly as possible for the international Christmas mail deadline… none of which are done… or close to being done …>.<

Am I panicking?

No… no I’m not.

That will hit Thursday… the 1st… when I’m supposed to standing in line at the post office with a bag full of packages and instead I’m sitting in the middle of my floor, still up to my eyeballs in beads, wire and assorted craft supplies…

I DID luck out on a few of international gifts though… my one honorary little sis and her parents, whom I always put together a gift box and send to Texas for them… have all moved just this past month. The parents to Michigan and her to Indiana… and no one has sent me the new mailing addresses yet! That means there’s no rush on those gifts :D  So there’s two packages that are out of the Christmas mailing rush :)   Two others are not actually Christmas gifts, and while they should get mailed off as soon as I can, they don’t HAVE to reach their destination by Christmas.. so again, two more not in the Christmas rush :)  so that actually just leaves three packages, two of which are jewelry and should come together fairly quickly once I get to work on them… and those two I will be forgiven for if they arrive a bit late .. one because she’s my baby sis and they won’t be home on Christmas any how .. and the other is for a friend in England and she has NO clue I’m even sending her something :D

… crap…. that reminds me I keep meaning to make something for my friend in Australia and her daughter>.<… well again.. I would be forgiven for a late arrival on that too :) lol

So… there’s my holiday chaos so far… >.<  some of it… so far … and yet here I am, blogging instead of working on any of it ;)

Change of subject? Yes…I think so too lol…Want to know what those BTW photos were ? lol Well actually.. they weren’t anything I was working on! Mostly because what I’m currently working on involves paper and colored pencils.. and shortly felt and glue ;) lol

No, my photos were of some of the beautiful beads that have come to me in the past couple weeks :)

First off, a little while ago I won a gift certificate for Starry Road Studio. I got to pick out some goodies and she sent them my way along with a couple of extra gifts :)

i

www.starryroadstudio.com

Then not even a full week later I won a giveaway from wildrosesandblackberries of a bundle of beads and other goodies :)

d

wildrosesandblackberries.blogspot.com

Then, to top it all off… I joined up for a mini beadsoup swap that Lori of pretty things put together and a few days ago my package from her arrived :)
j g

( the top picture is how they arrived, each in their own ‘soup mix’; the bottom picture is after I finished playing with them and sorting them all out :D)

So I have ALL these shiny sparkly wonderful pretty treasures to play with… and am too busy with other stuff to get to right now >.<

On the upside, I’ll be raiding Lori’s soupmix there for some of those beautiful green sparklies for one of the gifts I’m making ( at least). The rest we’ll see about…I have plans for alot of it… we’ll see if any of those plans come to be.. and how long it takes lol

Now, Wednesday I will draw a winner for this month’s giveaway, so quick! Get in your entries now ->  Freebie Friday   I don’t believe there are ANY entries for the extra gift yet,  so remind everyone on the places you’ve posted about it to come and mention you!  If I don’t have any referrals on Wednesday, I’ll hold the Swarovski pack over through December as well :)

BTW – Snakes and Goodies

Yes that’s right…I said snakes.

I’m working on my Secret Santa gift today. After a few days of  ‘crap what the HELL am I gonna make this girl’, I finally hit upon what I thought was a great idea. She’s a writer with her own characters, and one of her wishes was for anything to do with her characters. So I’d decided I’d do a two part gift – I’d choose a couple of her characters and either make a piece of their jewelry or design a piece of jewelry for them… then in addition to making them the jewelry, draw them wearing it.

Another few days were spent choosing the right reference poses for the drawings and, since very few of her characters WEAR jewelry, deciding on the styles and designs.

Then today I’m sitting here and pick up some wire… and the next thing I know, my plans are out the window and I’m making a set of snake jewelry. For the record, snakes were also on her wishlist.

s
 - top left – ear cuff, two sets of earring dangles, ending with a bracelet focal on the bottom right.

These are still very much ‘in progess’. I’ll be sure to share photos of the finished pieces too :)

So.. now you know about the snakes… Here are the goodies I mentioned.

g

The top three are pendants, the bottom three on the left are a links.  The little pack on the bottom right are two extra gifts she included as a thank you for my order ;)

Aren’t they all just gorgeous?

These are from Starry Road Studio. I won a gift certificate from her blog  in her birthday giveaway. Rather then send me an actual certificate though, she just told me to pick out what I’d like and not to worry about shipping or anything. She also said not to worry if the total was a bit over the 35. I however hit the 35 right on the nose :D hehe

It was a tough choice, let me tell you! So many gorgeous pieces to choose from. I made my choices like three times.. each time I let it sit for a bit then came back to it to make sure those were indeed the right pieces.   I have my eye on a few more of her pieces too that I may have to treat myself too… depending on if I have any money left after Lori Anderson’s virtual craft show  ;)

Murphy’s in the house…

… that’s what a friend of mine kept saying one day at work. Then a minute later the lid popped off a big jug as she was pouring it >.<

yup…. damn that Murphy!

Saturday was a day off… but since I had three in a row off coming up, I decided to do NOTHING and use one of the three to do housework and crap like that. I had to do laundry but figured I’d leave it until late afternoon, then treat myself to supper out while I was waiting on it.

So… of course, two o-clock in the afternoon, the house is still a mess. Hell, I’m in my jammies with my hair not even combed… a couple unwrapped Christmas gifts for my mother scattered around… and what happens? My door pops open and my mother walks in >.< and of course because everything is REALLY messy, including me, she brings my father with her >.<

Damn you, Murphy >.<

Luckily they didn’t stay.. they were just passing through and dad needed to use my bathroom ( brave man that he is) , and mother didn’t spot any of her gifts (or so she claims). I’m willing to bet pretty much anything however, that the second they were back in the car, dad bitched about either my hair ( it’s currently red and he HATES it red )… or my mess. *sigh* How much do you want to bet whatever appliance type thing he gets me for Christmas this year has something to do with cleaning?

So.. here we are… tomorrow marks the first of three days off for me. The plans for those three days include housecleaning of massive proportions as well as working on my Secret Santa gift, and Murphy is peeking his head through the door, getting ready to come on in and make himself at home >.< I felt a bit worn down after work so I figured I’d have a nap. Afternoon naps generally have an automatic wake up after an hour, hour and a half tops. … five and a half hours later, I woke up >.< My nose is starting to run, my sinuses ache, my throat is starting to feel scratchy and I feel sooooo tired >.<

*sigh*

Well, on the brighter side, I came home to find two little packages waiting for me in my mail box :) One from Artbeads.com with the missing hooks from my last order, and one form Starry Road Studio with my goodies :) A couple weeks ago I won a $35 gift certificate from her and picked out some goodies from her shop. I peeked at them but refuse to let myself even take them out of the box until I get some work done around here :/ but I did see that she included a really nice little gift, too :) I’ll post some photos as soon as I can :)

Just this past week I also won the giveaway over at Wild Roses & Blackberries which I’m really excited over too :) It’s like and early Christmas… and part of me feels guilty for opening them now… isn’t that silly? lol

Curious as to which package will find me first; my goodies or the bead swap from Lori @ Pretty Things .

I keep kicking myself over that one…I had her package of beads all wrapped and secure… then at the post office the lady weighed it and suddenly, the stuff in the package shifted around >.< Part of me wanted to bring it home and repackage it again, but the lady was waiting and there was a line up behind me… and I caved to pressure >.< I have no doubt it will reach her just fine, I just have this need to do things right and it’s bugging the crap out of me that I didn’t package ‘right’ it enough for the bits to not move around … Yes I’m picky like that. I’m also a bit put out that I mailed it right away instead of waiting a week… if I’d waited I could’ve shared some of my winnings with her in the  bead soup :/

*sigh*

Well.. now that I’ve ranted and grumped and cursed poor Murphy and his stupid law :p lol I’m gonna go curl up on the couch with a box of kleenex and cup of tea, and just be miserable for a bit… at least until the weight and warmth of two cats laying on top of me puts me to sleep again.

What I’ve been up to…

If you’re looking for my BSBP reveal, click  HERE!

Hi :)

Long time no post :)

I’ve been busy. Honest. And yes, doing MORE then JUST avoiding housework… although I’ve been doing a healthy ( or unhealthy, depending on how you look at it ) dose of that as well >.<

First off, I’d like to say that the decision to leave a longer amount of time between giveaways is obviously paying off :)  Kay will actually have competition for this giveaway ;) *L*  Oh, and I have a photo of the  additional giveaway for the one who refers the most people here, which I’ll post at the end of this blog, as well as edit into the original.

Alrighty, well for those who remember my last slightly stressed rant, I had quite a list of stuff to work on. Have I done any of it?  Eh…. not really >.< Instead I took on even more and have been doing that instead… what can I say? I’m a big softy. The gift exchange group I help run year round has been having issues lately with people not following through on making their gifts… which leaves the people who  have already done their part, waiting without anything in return. For the most part, these don’t seem to be intentional dead beats… just people who’ve been suddenly dumped on by life or just found themselves unable to take part right then. It wouldn’t be that big a problem if they’d let us know sooner so we could arrange for someone else to make that gift…but they tend to wait a month or two THEN say they can’t >.<

So after sending Itti ( the girl who runs the group ) a note about yet another one to be reassigned…I caved. I told her that if she could find me a couple profiles right away that had been waiting forever, I had a couple days off and could probably take care of them. The last one I’d done was done in a day, it just came to me so quickly and I had everything I needed for it :)

g
A touch of tribal

I just crossed my fingers and hoped I’d be as lucky with these. She came back to me with four names that had been waiting and told me to go check out the profiles myself and pick whatever one ( or more) that hit me.  I chose two that spoke to me right away, but jotted down the other two as well, just to keep in mind. They took about three days, but truthfully, the one would’ve been done the first day except I’d been trying to find a smaller link to match the filigree… in the end I gave up and just used extra filigree.

o
Glitz is Good
h
hand painted cloth bags -wolf & steampunk heart

The night after I’d mailed them I was looking over the other two names, still stuck for ideas. It had been a rather stressful day at work ( let’s just say my language throughout the morning, although spoken in a low growling mutter, could’ve made an entire ship’s worth of sailors blush). Days like that have a three cure… a nap, a creative outlet of some sort… and a dose of Irish Cream in my coffee. I’d had the nap but the creativity refused to ‘outlet’ enough to help… so I went with the spiked coffee. Eureka! The muse has spoken :)

h
Autumn charms

Another gift done and ready to mail! The last name on the list is still holding my muse at bay, but then..I haven’t spiked my coffee again yet ;)

So, despite the fact that I’ve accomplished very little on my todo list, I still feel jazzed for having done these. Knowing that four people will soon be getting a long awaited surprise in the mail and will finally be repaid for the kindness of their own gifts to others… is a good thing :)

As for my NaNo  work, well… it’s coming along. slowly, but surely. I probably won’t reach the 50,000 word goal by the 30th considering everything else going on, but I’ll keep working away at it when I can and see how much I get done :) After five days of writing, I have a sad count of 4009 words… which I think might be close to the even sadder TOTAL word count I achieved last year >.< so… looking at it THAT way, I’m doing pretty good ;) lol

So there’s some of what I’ve been up to lately. Today will see some housecleaning, some more writing, and perhaps another necklace or two while I make a big pot of turkey and barley soup :)  Well… assuming I have enough left over turkey in my freezer yet… if not, then I’ll be cooking a small turkey today and making the soup tomorrow ;) lol

Alright, now… I haven’t noticed many comments on the last Freebie Friday post stating who sent them or where they saw the link. You can still add a comment with this info! It will count as an extra entry for you as well as a bonus entry for whoever sent you :) The ‘surprise’ prize this person will be entered for ? Right here…

Freebie Friday #8

If you’re looking for my BSBP reveal post click HERE

If you’re looking for my Do Over Challenge piece click HERE

Hello again :)

Well plans have changed. This was originally going to be the last of the weekly Halloween giveaways … however, due to the weekly turn outs and the fact that any Halloweeny beads I offered up wouldn’t even be won until the holiday was over…I decided to change that plan.

So today marks the first of the monthly giveaways. You’ll have an entire month to comment and share and enter this time. And don’t worry, I’m sure there’ll be other little spontaneous excuses for extras along the way ;)

So what’s up for grabs this time? Well, as much as I hate to jump Holidays… a Christmas inspired charm bracelet. I’m one of those people who can’t stand seeing Christmas decorations in the stores before Halloween .. and yet here we are, a few days before Halloween and I’m making Christmas jewelry >.< lol  Oddly enough, while I’d thought it would leave me feeling depressed..I actually feel better and more energized by it :)

so here it g

And because it’s for an entire MONTH… Thought a little something extra was needed. Unfortunately I don’t have any special Christmas beads, and have been unable to find any in the local stores >.< and while I do have another tool to giveaway, I think I’m gonna save that for next month ;)

So… in addition to the bracelet,

                      y h

two pairs of earrings- one to match the bracelet, and the other a more delicate and subtle Christmas look.

I’ve also decided to give away my DoOver Challenge piece. I just have to decide when and where. If any of you have any ideas, let me know, otherwise I’ll probably just do a random drawing for it :)

So that’s it.  You have one month of commenting, linking and mentioning to enter here on this blog post. Same rules as always – one comment =one entry. Leave separate comments for each time you share word about this giveaway ( facebook, twitter, blog, etc.)

I’ll be doing a extra giveaway for the person who sends the most people here, so make sure you mention where you heard about this giveaway!

b

The winner for both will be drawn on Wednesday, November 30th.
